Welcome to Eldred High School's Information Resource Center.  Our aim is to provide a clearinghouse of information for students to explore potential careers and post-secondary education.  The following is a list of links to help students explore career choices and to find educational institutions and scholarships to pursue their goal.

Career Development Information

NYCareerZone.org is an innovative, interactive online resource for students, teachers, counselors and jobseekers. The program informs users about the hundreds of fantastic careers New York State has to offer.  This will allow you to explore different job opportunities and is an ideal way for you to assess workplace skills and aptitudes.
This site helps you put together your personal interest inventory (PEI) and has a multitude of resources for the teen seeking help with career guidance.

Test Prep and Information about the SAT
Listing of over 3000 colleges and universities. Please that the list has not been updated for several years.
A guide to financial aid for students.
Apply to over 500 colleges online.  Also includes extensive information about financial aid, loans and scholarships.
Online SAT registration, SAT test preparation, and college planning.
A great set of helpful suggestions about what you can do now to help yourself in the future.
Suggested classes particularly for students headed to a four-year college, but even if you're interested in going to a junior or community college you may want to take most of them.
This site has over 700 schools you can apply to, scholarship resources and financial aid resources.

Occupational Information

The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives.  Revised every two years, the Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations.
The Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) survey collects wage data for a host of different occupations each year. The occupations are organized and grouped into 22 categories.
O*NET OnLine offers access to the Occupation Information Network (O*NET), a database of occupational information that can be used for career exploration,vocational counseling, and human resources functions such as developing job orders and position descriptions and aligning training with current workplace needs.
